- Vancouver Coastal Health, Providence Health Care, and The University of British Columbia invite applications for a laryngologist to join the Division of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at Vancouver General Hospital and St. Paul's Hospital and in the UBC Department of Surgery in Vancouver, Canada. We seek a candidate with a demonstrated commitment to patient care, teaching, and research in advancing knowledge and management of laryngological disease. The successful applicant will work with an active multi-disciplinary team in teaching medical undergraduates, otolaryngology residents and laryngology fellows, and will work closely with a PhD speech language pathologist specializing in voice care.
- The successful candidate must hold certification in Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and be eligible for licensure by the BC College of Physicians and Surgeons. A master's degree in education, public health, epidemiology or a related field is recommended. Applicants should demonstrate a record of excellence in training, clinical service and teaching expertise. Rank for a UBC Clinical Faculty appointment is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

- The Faculty of Medicine, University of British Columbia (UBC) invites applications and nominations for the position of Head of the Department of Surgery at UBC. We seek a leader who will direct and develop the teaching, research and service programs of the academic Department. The Department Head will have administrative academic linkages with all six health authorities in British Columbia, with the expectation of a principal leadership position in one or more Health Authorities. The Department of Surgery has approximately 42 full-time and 366 clinical faculty members and 70 staff members, and it attracts strong research support.
- The successful candidate will be accountable for fostering coordination and cooperative relationships within the Department among the University and the affiliated Health Authorities. The candidate also will be responsible for promoting and improving the standards of patient care, service, teaching and research on behalf of UBC and the affiliated Health Authorities, as well as ensuring that the Department plays a leadership role in the development of surgical services and research within the Province.
- The successful candidate should hold a specialty qualification in Surgery, have broad and proven administrative experience, substantial academic and clinical experience, a proven record of scholarly activity with demonstrated excellence in teaching, and a commitment to undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate medical education. The successful candidate must be eligible for registration as a Surgeon with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of B.C. and must be a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Anticipated start date will be July 1, 2011 or a date to be mutually agreed.
- Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. It is expected that the successful candidate will qualify for and be offered a full-time appointment at the rank of Professor with tenure.

LEADER RADIATION ONCOLOGY : Regular Full-Time
BC CANCER AGENCY - CENTRE FOR THE NORTH

- Your opportunity to launch a new Radiation Oncology department
- The BC Cancer Agency is seeking a dynamic individual to lead Radiation Oncology in Prince George. The position will initially be located at the BC Cancer Agency- Centre for the Southern Interior (CSI) in Kelowna until the Centre for the North opens in the latter half of 2012.
- You will lead a staff of 3 full-time Radiation Oncologists on opening with additional positions to be created as workload demands. The Centre for the North will be equipped with 2 Varian linear accelerators with IMRT, RapidArc, and IGRT capabilities, a CT simulator and an HDR room within a full service cancer center with ambulatory clinics, a chemotherapy facility and a full spectrum of support staff located adjacent to the region’s largest general hospital, the University Hospital of Northern BC. The Centre will provide RT services to approximately 700 new patients annually, with growth over time.
- The role of the Radiation Oncology Leader is to develop the clinical and academic priorities for the Radiation Therapy program and to foster excellence in clinical care, teaching and academic productivity among members of the program. In addition to clinical service, radiation oncologists will be actively involved in undergraduate and residency teaching and hold appointments with the Northern Medical Program, a part of the UBC Medical School.
- While initially based in Kelowna, you will work with the core planning team for the new centre in Kelowna and Vancouver to develop the model of care, explore opportunities for the use of state of the art technologies such as Telehealth and contribute to the development of a comprehensive, regional cancer control program.
- You must be eligible for licensure as a specialist in British Columbia and have the Canadian certification (FRCPC) in Radiation Oncology, or an equivalent qualification. Your faculty appointment and academic rank with UBC Medical School will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

- Foster Growth and Development in Surgical Oncology
- This senior position in oncology surgery comprises the strategic and operational leadership of a Provincial Surgical Oncology Program, principally delivered at the BC Cancer Agency, Vancouver Centre and Vancouver Coastal hospitals, with growing services at the Vancouver Island Centre, Victoria and surgical expansion planned for other BC Cancer Agency centres. Reporting to the Vice-President Cancer Care, your responsibilities include the ongoing growth and development of multidisciplinary patient care in a sophisticated provincial cancer system. Your well-honed leadership skills allows you to lead a dynamic group of surgical oncologists, nurses and allied health staff in providing excellence in the evidence-based surgical care, related clinical and translational research and participate in postgraduate and undergraduate education.
