Departmental Grand Rounds are held on one WEDNESDAY per month at 0700-0800hrs
reception / refreshment convenes at 0645, the Grand Rounds start sharp at 0700hrs
in the
PAETZOLD HEALTH EDUCATION CENTRE AUDITORIUM
(1st floor, Jim Pattison Pavilion South (JPPS))
Vancouver General Hospital Site(899 West 12th Avenue, Vancouver, B.C. [Behind the Information Kiosk, just beyond the elevators]).
Grand Rounds are accredited group learning activities as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada.

Technologies of the Future - Invited Presenter:
- Ivar Mendez, MD, PhD, FRCSC, FACS
- Professor, Department of Surgery and Chairman, Brain Repair Centre
- Dalhousie University
- Learning Objectives:
- The use of cell-replacement therapies for degenerative neurological conditions focusing on cell-based strategies for brain repair in Parkinson's disease.
- The emerging technologies of remote presence medicine using robotic systems and pioneering portable remote presence devices. Particular emphasis will be giving at the use of these technologies in developing countries in order to narrow the gap of inequality in health care delivery.
